The Call Doesn't End When the Shift Does
You were trained to run toward what everyone else runs from. But no one trained you on what to do with it afterwards. The scenes, the sounds, the decisions — they don't clock out when you do.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
Hypervigilance That Won't Turn Off
Your nervous system learned to scan for danger constantly because that vigilance kept you and others safe. Off-duty, that same system struggles to stand down. You notice every sound, every movement, every potential threat — not because you're broken, but because your body is still doing the job it was trained for.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
Sleep That Never Feels Restful
Falling asleep may be hard, staying asleep harder. You wake at every noise, or you dream about calls. This isn't a character flaw — it's a nervous system that hasn't been taught it's safe to rest. Anything occurring in our body affects our mind, and a body on high alert will not let you sleep deeply.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
Numbness or Short Temper at Home
You may feel nothing at all, or you snap at the people you love over small things. Both are your nervous system's way of managing an overload it was never designed to carry alone. Shutting down or flaring up are protective responses — not signs that you're failing at home.

WHAT HELPS
Teaching Your Body Safety
The work isn't arguing with your nervous system — it's teaching it, slowly, that this moment is not that moment. Daily body scans, slower breathing, and talking about what you carry aren't small things. They're how you signal to your system that it can stand down. If you're in crisis, you're not alone — in the US, call or text 988.
