The 5-4-3-2-1 Technique
Name 5 things you can see. Look around slowly — a book, a shadow, the corner of a table. Just notice them. Then 4 things you can physically touch. Feel the texture of your shirt, the chair beneath you, the floor under your feet.
Then 3 things you can hear. A clock ticking, a car passing, your own breath. Then 2 things you can smell — even if it's just the air. Finally, 1 thing you can taste. It might be the last thing you ate, or the inside of your mouth. That's it.
