Boundaries aren't walls
A wall says 'I can't be near you.' It's total disconnection. A boundary says 'I can be here, on terms that work for us both.' One ends it, the other sustains it.
You're not blocking someone — you're making sure you have enough left to show up as yourself. Boundaries let you stay present without running on empty.
A boundary isn't harsh. It's 'I can't do that right now, but I care about you' or 'I need space, and that doesn't mean I'm leaving.' You get to protect yourself and still be warm.
Boundaries are how you stay in the room. They're not punishment — they're the conditions under which you can keep showing up without losing yourself.
The goal isn't to push people away. It's to create space where real connection can happen — where you're not performing or overgiving. Boundaries make closeness possible.
